[뉴질랜드 자동차 여행] 와이토모 동굴 Waitomo Cave

와이토모,
동굴에서 수백만 마리의 반딧불이가 만들어낸 빛이
밤하늘의 별과 같은 장관을 만들어 내는 것으로 유명해져 그 것을 보려고 매년 많은 관광객에 방문하는 곳이다.

          Il y a des millions de vers luisants produisant une petite lumiere faisant ressembler le plafond de la grotte
          a un ciel rempli d'etoiles.
          C'est pour cela que de nombreux touristes viennent visiter cette grotte(Glowworm cave).
          Les vers luisants attrapent la nourriture(insectes) en brillant dans l'obscurite. Quand il y a de la lumiere,
          ils arretent de briller et ne peuvent plus se nourrir, c'est pourquoi il est interdit de prendre des photos.

          There are millions of glowworms producing a soft light, which makes the top of the cave looking like a sky
           full of stars. That's why many people come to Waitomo to visit the Glowworms Cave.
          Glowworms catch food(insects) by shining in the dark. When there is light, they stop shining and can't catch food
          anymore, that's why photography in the cave is not allowed.

와이토모 동굴 입구.
동굴내에서는 사진 촬영이 금지 되어 있는데 그이유는 어둠 속에서 빛을 내어 먹이를 유인해 잡아 먹는 반딧불이 때문.
당연히 밝은 곳에서는 빛을 내지도 못하고, 빛을 보고 날아드는 먹이가 되는 벌레도 없게 된다.

가이드의 안내로 동굴을 돌아본 뒤 마지막으로 배를 타고 와이토모 강을 따라 동굴 속을 통과하게 되는데,
이때 천장에 붙어있는 수많은 반딧불이가 만들어내는 장관을 볼 수 있다.

A la fin de la visite, nous avons pris un bateau qui parcourt la riviere souterraine.
Nous avons vu alors d'innombrables vers luisants semblant a des etoiles.
At the end of the visit, we took a boat to follow the underground river.
At that time we saw a lot of glowworms like stars.

와이토모 동굴에서 19km 떨어져 있는 테 쿠이티,
마을은 작고 볼거리도 없는 곳이지만 와이토모 동굴(이 곳엔 동굴뿐이 없다)을 가자면
반듯이 들리게 되는 곳이다.
A Te Kuiti, a 19km de Waitomo, il n'y a pas grand chose a voir, mais c'est une bonne base pour visiter les grottes.
In Te Kuiti, 19km far from Waitomo, there is not a lot to see, but it makes a good base for visiting the caves.
